For Rialto—one of the city’s most established precincts—a website refresh needed to do more than update the visuals. It needed to reflect the precinct’s evolution: a growing, connected community and clear momentum toward what’s next.

Our approach retained the equity built into the Rialto brand over decades, while repositioning it to reflect the evolution of the present. Capturing the precinct’s legacy, corporate wellbeing, hospitality and tenant experience—the result is a site that supports how Rialto is perceived today, and the ambitions driving it forward.

It was important for Studio Payne that by rebuilding and re-energising Melbourne’s icon for today, the website still honours the history it continues to write.

Through the animated timeline, Rialto is able to celebrate their past—and particularly their 40 year anniversary—while allowing space for continued growth and engagement with the digital age decades after its inception.

The digital experience allows users to easily explore, diving into content in a way that is logical but never dull. Their site is designed to flex with them and built to be manageable for their team. Every interaction invites you to explore, balancing aesthetics with usability effortless, never compromising on form or function.

This experience has flowed into the physical space, with aligned media wall graphics for event promotion showcasing the custom wordmark that integrates Rialto’s recognisable monogram—also featured in the existing Rialto logo and the website’s new loading animation.

55 levels, 1,240 steps, hundreds of determined climbers and over $160k raised—the Rialto Run Up is a continued success for the precinct and the mission’s cause.

2025 marked the 20 year return of the annual event that was first run in the late 1980’s with both men’s and women’s divisions. Today—together—in partnership with Giant Steps Australia, every step continues to support children with autism through life-changing education and programs.

With the event’s rebirth, Studio Payne was tasked with creating the logo lockup that spoke to both the enduring momentum of the race and its synergy with Rialto as a branded precinct.

The Rialto display suite needed to be just as flexible as the brand and refreshed website.

Housed in custom powder-coated Rialto blue frames, the content—alongside digital screens—showcased the local amenity and lifestyle of the precinct for potential new tenants, with the ability to be moved to a new location if the floor was leased during this time. The experience aligned with Rialto’s conviction and vision—adapting to change and continuing to shape the legacies of the future.

Together with positional markers and window decals that functioned as viewpoints for local landmarks from the level’s viewline, the display suite presented Rialto as a precinct as one of Melbourne’s icons and surrounded by the best the city has to offer.
