We crafted a scalable, sophisticated identity that connects guests with each city—alongside engaging touchpoints for cultivated travellers.
Little National began as the first micro hotel in Canberra. Studio Payne was charged with defining this new category of micro-hotels—while creating a brand that could scale nationally.
Live a little. This became the mantra behind Little National—speaking to all the luxury you need, and nothing you don’t. Working closely with the marketing team, we developed a simple and elegant brand expression that translated to every touchpoint—from in-room to digital. The identity features a window metaphor—a story of how Little National opens you up to the cities you stay in. A tongue-in-cheek personality was created to create a human brand, one that was clever and sophisticated.
We reimagined Little National Post, a hotel publication designed to engage the hotel’s cultivated traveller. The asset undertook an editorial approach, reflecting iconic magazine design to go beyond what is expected and create something truly memorable.
The brand extended to Sydney and was ranked the best hotel in the iconic city at launch. Since then, the brand has opened in Newcastle, with plans for further expansion across Australia.
